Introductory Notes

• This Reading list is a consolidation of those for the constituent Chapters of this Thesis. Unlike them, it is not segregated by Note citing nor by read / unread, nor by sub-category. It excludes any Book or Paper that has missed the cut in all Notes that cite it.
• Various bits of information are given as in the Notes and Chapters, though footnotes are omitted:-
  1. Publication Year: where known. So that it’s easy to see how contemporary the work is. In due course I’ll add formal bibliographical details. Currently, these are available – sometime informally – by following the link and looking in the ‘Source’ or ‘Comments’.
  2. Book: If it’s a Book, this is noted (otherwise it’s to be assumed to be a Paper or Book Chapter)
  3. No Abstract: In the vast majority of cases there’s some text describing the work, but occasionally not. Marked where so,
  4. External Link: For quick reference, it’s noted if there’s an electronic link on the internet to the full text accessible from my site.
  5. Internal PDF Link: For quick reference, it’s noted if there’s an electronic link from my site to the electronic version on my hard drive. Obviously, this only works on the local copy of my website. Restricted for copyright reasons.
  6. Read: If I’ve completed reading the Book / Paper there’s a “Read” marker. If I’ve only partially read the document, a percentage is estimated. This is calculated from my rough estimate for the total time required to read the whole work relative to time actually recorded as spent. It’s almost always an over-estimate, but shows those items that have received some attention.
• Because of the way my processes work, the reading list will ultimately appear twice: once as a bulleted list and secondly as a table (which includes the books that contain the papers cited if these books aren’t themselves cited). Currently, the second list isn’t working. I’m on the case: it will need to be tweaked for the purpose of this Note in any case.
• I’ve started to introduce a pre-list of those works I actually cite in the text (either of the Thesis or the Notes). That’s because the two Theses I’ve most recently read on my general theme contained 50 and 100 references respectively. Currently, because my encoding has only just started, I list few (318 items) Citations, but the full Reference list has rather a lot (7,384 items)!
